With her controversial tell-all Lifetime documentary, Janet Jackson is taking control of her narrative like never before – putting longstanding rumors to rest and telling the truest side of one of the most celebrated stories in Pop music history.
As fans new and old (affectionately called the #JanFam) get acquainted with the diva in brand new ways, the two-part doc – which aired Friday (January 28) and Saturday (January 29) – has also encouraged them to get reacquainted with her iconic catalog.
The result? Miss Jackson can be found in control of real-time sales tallies and rising on streaming outlets.
As social media sends the Pop icon’s name to the top of trending lists in response to the shocking revelations loaded in her Lifetime documentary, the four-hour TV event – peppered with snippets of some of her greatest hits – has also helped launch the youngest Jackson’s name to the top of music sales lists.
Peruse of the real-time iTunes R&B sales chart will show Janet’s groundbreaking 1989 album, ‘Rhythm Nation 1814,’ in the top slot with its follow-up – 1993’s ‘Janet.’ – not far behind at #5.
