Here’s What Went Down After NBA YoungBoy’s Guilty Plea

On Monday, Nov. 18, TSR reported that NBA YoungBoy, formerly Kentrell Gaulden, pleaded guilty to his role in a prescription drug fraud ring in Utah, according to the Associated Press. The 25-year-old rapper admitted guilt to two counts of third-degree identity fraud, two counts of felony forgery, and six counts of unlawful pharmacy conduct. He chose a “no contest” plea for the remaining charges.

KTVX-TX shared that four of his felony charges were downgraded to misdemeanors. Instead of serving jail time, YoungBoy will pay a $25,000 fine. Despite allegations of running the drug ring from his home, the judge allowed him to return to his residence on Nov. 18. District Judge Spencer Walsh suspended a prison sentence in this case, citing YoungBoy’s ongoing legal battle in the state. AP News reports that YoungBoy could still face a 27-month federal sentence for charges in Weber County, Utah.

After finishing his sentence for the federal charges, YoungBoy will serve five years of supervised probation, according to Judge Walsh. On Monday, the judge praised his talent and offered him encouraging words. YoungBoy responded to her statements with, “Thank you.”

“I’ve seen so many times that you have young men and women who have a lot of talent and potential. That they can be robbed of that potential when they start to really struggle with their addiction. I don’t want that for you. You seem like a very talented young man,” Judge Walsh said. “I’m hoping, in your future, that once you’re done with your federal prison time that you can be really successful on federal probation and have a really bright future where you can reach your full potential in every aspect of your life. Best of luck to you.”
