Chicago-native Lexxx, knew at an early age that her love would be within the creative arts. Throughout high school Lexxx was active in her high school drama festivals. Her passion and dedication to the arts earned her the best actress of the year awards for her roles in the original productions every year she was at Our Lady of Lourdes High School on Chicago’s South West Side.
After graduating from high school, Lexxx briefly studied Psychology at Roosevelt University. Feeling unfulfilled, she soon decided to pursue her true passion for the arts through radio broadcasting, theater/acting, news reporting, and playwriting. She went on to graduate from the Illinois Center for Broadcasting (ICB) with a Technical Degree in Radio/Television Communications.
Immediately following graduating from ICB, Lexxx became an intern for Cliff Kelly on the Talk of Chicago WVON 1690 AM. That internship led her to be coming the Executive Producer of the sports radio show, The Sports Cypher (formerly “Stats and Stilettos”) also on WVON 1690 AM. Over the next three years Lexxx honed her skills booking guests, planning events for the show, and delegating work to assigned interns.
After some time Lexxx decided to create her own radio talk show, Rated Life, through Urban Broadcast Media Internet Radio Station in 2014. The show was originally based in Chicago’s Bronzeville area and after partnering with Adobe Gilas of New City in Lincoln Park, the show began broadcasting live from New City. It was heard via their YouTube Channel, RATED LIFE Radio Show, every second, third and fourth Friday night each month from 9pm to 12am, and focuses on uplifting youth, education, relationships, sex, mental/sexual health, music, and a number other lighthearted topics that affect everyday life. Adobe Gilas of New City and manager Spiro Theodoropoulos decided to partner with Lexxx in 2017.
Through her radio show, Lexxx and her team created The LIFE Narratives Concert Series in November 2016. Events are streamed live on YouTube so people can watch the series from their home. Local artists are searched out to perform, and local people who are doing extraordinary things in their communities are recognized for making a difference in their communities are recognized for making a difference in the lives of others and for making their own lives count. Through those notable mentions, the Making Your Life Count Award was created to formally honor those remarkable individuals.
