Famed Hip Hop Hype Man Fatman Scoop Dead At 53

Isaac Freeman III, better known as Fatman Scoop, has passed away after collapsing onstage Friday night.
The tragic news was confirmed by Scoop’s tour manager, who expressed his grief, saying, “I am honestly lost for words… You took me all over the world and had me performing alongside you on some of the biggest and greatest stages on this planet. The things you taught me have truly made me the man I am today. Thank you so much, I love you x.”
The Reminisce Festival, where Fatman Scoop was scheduled to perform on September 7, also shared their condolences on Instagram: “It is with the deepest sorrow that we at Reminisce have received the devastating news of the tragic passing of the legendary Isaac Freeman III, known to us all as Fatman Scoop. This loss has left us all heartbroken.”
His family released a heartfelt statement as well, saying, “He was the laughter in our lives, a constant source of support, unwavering strength, and courage.”
The news of Fatman Scoop’s passing was initially reported by 107.3 VIP, noting that the iconic hip-hop hype man was performing at Town Center Park in Hamden, CT, when he appeared to suffer a medical emergency.
Throughout his career, Fatman Scoop worked with many big names in the hip-hop industry, including Missy Elliott, Mariah Carey, and Jermaine Dupri, among others.
After his collapse, Hamden Mayor Lauren Garrett asked fans to “please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”

Fatman Scoop was 53 years old.
