Is Robert Griffin III Coming For Angel Reese?
It all started when former ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III hit X on Thursday with a lengthy post defending Chicago Sky star Angel Reese from the racist backlash she’s faced this season. The former football star said:
“Alright. This has got to stop. There is no place for racism in this world. Whether you like a player or not. Angel Reese should never be called or depicted as a monkey.”
While many agreed with the heart of his message, Griffin stirred the pot by claiming he’d heard from Reese’s “inner circle” that she had “grown to hate Caitlin Clark” due to constant comparisons and media obsession.

Meanwhile, the timing of all this drama couldn’t have been messier. Recently, Reese made headlines for being named one of the NBA 2K26 cover athletes, joining legends like Carmelo Anthony, Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and several WNBA icons. Additionally, her signature Reebok shoe also debuted on the cover. Angel was clearly in celebration mode, tweeting: “Of course we do everything BIG. Why not debut my signature shoe on the cover of NBA2K ?!?” But instead of letting her have her moment, the internet seemingly was quick to reignite the rivalry rumors.
Furthermore, Angel wasted no time clapping back, calling the claims flat-out false and allegedly hinting at Griffin clout chasing.

Her mom chimed in too, calling his post “cap” and making it clear that whoever Griffin spoke to wasn’t actually close to Angel.
