Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs now faces a four-year prison sentence, but his legal team refuses to back down. On Friday, October 3, Judge Arun Subramanian handed the 54-year-old music mogul a 50-month prison term and a $500,000 fine for two counts of transportation tied to prostitution. After the ruling, Diddy’s defense attorney Marc Agnifilo spoke outside the courthouse and confirmed plans to appeal the decision.

Marc Agnifilo spoke to reporters in New York City on Friday and said he feels confident about an appeal since the jury hit Diddy with a verdict tied to “coercion.”
“I think the judge today said coercion for a basis of a sentence at least a [dozen] times. We think that is unconstitutional. We think that a jury verdict should mean more. So, we are planning to appeal,” Agnifilo explained.
When a reporter asked Agnifilo about the chance of the jury pushing for a cross appeal, he said he doubts they would make that move and feels certain Diddy won’t face a higher sentence. “We’re going to appeal. We think we’re right. He’s not going to get a higher sentence.”

Combs pulled out all the stops while waiting for the jury’s decision. The Bad Boys Records founder had his family by his side with his mom, Janice Combs, his kids, D’Lila, Jessie, Chance, Christian, and Justin Combs, and Justin’s mother, Misa Hylton, all showing up. Quincy Brown, the son of Kim Porter and Al B. Sure, also made an appearance. His kids delivered emotional statements to the judge, while Combs submitted a letter asking for mercy and claiming he had changed. His team also dropped an 11-minute doc-style video highlighting his personal life and career.
On Oct. 3, Diddy spoke in court for the first time, apologizing to Cassie Ventura and other victims of domestic violence. Despite his efforts, the judge gave him a 50-month sentence, and 14 months of credit as time served.

Diddy’s lawyers weren’t the only ones to share their thoughts on the judge’s decision. Cassie’s attorney, Douglas Wigdor, also responded. He said that after everything Ventura endured, “nothing can undo the trauma.”
“While nothing can undo the trauma caused by Combs, the sentence imposed today recognizes the impact of the serious offenses he committed,” Wigdor explained in a statement.
