D’Angelo & Angie Stone’s Son Michael Archer II Reflects On Her Passing While Discussing Where His Relationship With His Dad Stood Before His Death

On Wednesday, November 12, Swayvo Twain took to his Instagram account to share a carousel post featuring lengthy video clips of himself speaking about his parents. In the clip, he spoke about it being “monumental” to get an understanding of his dad’s history. Furthermore, the footage then cuts to a clip of him speaking at D’Angelo’s service. In the footage, he explained that before his dad’s passing, he came to Atlanta and they spent three weeks together.

“Anything we ever missed, any questions I ever had… anything — we just had every conversation, every laugh, and every moment, and it really just cleared my spirit,” Archer told the crowd. “That’s the time that I needed him, like, the most, ever. And he stood right there — tall.”

From there, Archer explained that when his mom, Angie Stone, passed, he “kind of sat down and went into hiding.”

“But I’m not hiding this time,” he said. “When my mom passed, it left me with a lot of questions. After this funeral, I gained a lot of answers to things.”

Ultimately, Archer shared a family photo of him as a child alongside his mom and his dad’s family. Before the clip concluded, he said, “I thought that they didn’t know I existed… And they [were] like, ‘Nah, we knew you since you was a baby. We were waiting on you to get here.’”

Archer explained that he was “valid about certain things.” But “there were a lot of things” he was “wrong about.”

“I thought it was one way but it really was another way,” he said. “You like at your parents like they’re perfect and when they make a mistake, it’s like, ‘How could you do that?’… [But] I gained a whole ‘nother understanding for my father that I never had.”

Subsequently, Michael Archer II reacted to his dad’s passing in a statement.

“He was there when I needed him most after the passing of momma. Unfortunately, time ran out. I know it wasn’t done with malicious intent, but today, I’m not in any state of mind to make any statements. I wasn’t planning to,” Archer stated at the time.
