Then a video TMZ shared showed him lip-locking with a woman now identified as Marissa Springer. With all of the reactions coming at him, Kevin Gates has stepped in to drop some positive words to help him level up through his rough patch.

Desmond Scott Is Catching Heat, But Kevin Gates Got His Back!

Recently, Kevin Gates came through and dropped some positive words for Desmond Scott amid his divorce from Kristy Scott. In a video he shared on Instagram, the rapper said he’s praying for him and told him to ignore the hate because his life is about to take off.

“There’s no woman that wouldn’t want you.” Gates added, “Use the hate that you receiving right now for motivation to propel you forward. F**k what the internet talking about. Them just miserable people.”

From there, Kevin said he doesn’t see nothing wrong with how Desmond’s moving — he wasn’t happy, so Kevin thinks he just did what made him happy. Additionally, Kevin Gates said the only thing he disagrees with Desmond on is apologizing on the internet for his actions. Gates said if it was him, he’d own it and stay quiet, especially if he was the one holding down the home.

Kevin Gives Advice, But Fans Highlight His Divorce Track Record

Roomies, y’all already know the internet dragged Kevin Gates for trying to give Desmond advice. Fans were quick to clock him, pointing out that he’s been through two divorces recently. Back in July 2025. Dreka Gates had everyone shocked when she reportedly filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences” and officially splitting from Kevin on July 10 of that year. By October, TSR reported that she was asking him to pay $27, 193 a month in child support and $46, 274 a month in spousal support, plus primary custody of their two kids. Kevin clapped back, calling her claims “factually baseless” and saying they were never “legally married” — even though reports claim they “got hitched” in October 2015.

Then there’s Brittany Renner. Kevin and Brittany seemingly confirmed their relationship in March 2025 when they pulled up to DDG’s livestream together. Things got cozy between them fast, but by May 2025, vibes were peak couple energy. However, in an interview, Renner said they supposedly tied the knot in April and divorced a month later in May.

Desmond hasn’t said anything about the clip yet, and Kristy Sarah hasn’t either. After some serious digging, TMZ identified his lip-locking bae as 24-year-old Marissa Springer. Sources say they met the same night they were kissing at a Houston bar. Right now, it’s unclear whether they took things further or where they stand now. TMZ reports Marissa doubles as an influencer and college student. She finished her bachelor’s in marketing and management and was working toward a master’s in business, according to UH Bauer Graduate & Professional Programs.
