Chile! NBA YoungBoy is keeping the headlines coming as 2026 kicks off, and his latest comments are already raising eyebrows. The 26-year-old rapper recently sat down with Complex after being named Best Rapper Alive of 2025, where he touched on his album title and its apparent connection to Donald Trump. And let’s just say… his shoutout to the president has the internet talking.

NBA YoungBoy Openly Praises Trump In Interview

When asked what MASA actually means, YoungBoy kept it short and direct. “Follow whatever Trump applying,” he said, according to a clip shared by Kurrco. “In every way. […] Enforce whatever Trump’s applying. That’s it.” Despite the headline-grabbing statement, YB stayed quiet when the conversation shifted to questions about a potential presidential pardon or his personal relationship with President Donald Trump.

Now, this isn’t the first time YoungBoy has publicly praised Trump. Back in July, he referenced the president in his track ‘XXX,’ rapping, “Whatever Trump doin’, b*tch it’s good for the youngins (All Hail Trump).” Over the years, YoungBoy has woven politics into his music, leaving fans debating whether they’re hearing his true beliefs—or just the persona he puts on for the spotlight.

The Rapper’s Trump Shoutout Sparks Heated Debate

The moment NBA YoungBoy praised Trump had the Kurrco.xyz Instagram comment section blowing up. Some users pointed out that it made sense, noting Kodak Black had shown similar support after receiving his own pardon. Others weren’t having it—some said YoungBoy should be canceled, while plenty more were just trying to figure out if he was being for real.

One Instagram user @dreamzer_0 said, “He can’t be dead*ss rn💀😭”

This Instagram user @mateoospammz joked, “He don’t even know the 3 branches of government 😂”

And, Instagram user @ddddeluxepain commented, “Y he actin like that”

Meanwhile, Instagram user @evan.wesley wrote, “I mean like we said back in 2020 about Kodak. [Trump] did free him so understandable😭😭”

While Instagram user @jaruburbank shared, “we be makin 2 many…famous 😭”

Lastly, Instagram user @wrldofhendrix added, “cancel him like yall did Ye”

NBA YoungBoy’s Relationship With Trump Goes Back

Could this be what sparked NBA YoungBoy’s connection with Donald Trump? Last May, the rapper took to his Instagram Story to thank the president for granting him a pardon, calling it a “fresh start” and a chance to fully focus on his future. “I want to thank President Trump for granting me a pardon and giving me the opportunity to keep building — as a man, as a father, and as an artist. This moment means a lot. It opens the door to a future. I’ve worked hard for and I am fully prepared to step into this. I’m grateful [and] focused. I’m Ready,” YoungBoy wrote.

Legally known as Kentrell Gaulden, NBA pleaded guilty in November 2024 to his role in a prescription drug fraud scheme in Utah. HIs charges included identity fraud, felony forgery, and unlawful pharmacy conduct. The court reduced his felony counts to misdemeanors and ordered him to pay a $25,000 fine. Furthermore, ultimately walked free on April 26, 2025, after serving 11 months of a 23-month sentence. Fans are now speculating whether YoungBoy’s public praise is purely about the pardon. Or, if it hints at an unexpected bond forming between the rapper and the president.
