According to Carter, Trey Reed’s mother has shared that her son was excited and eager to begin his time at Delta State University. Then, Reed’s mother received a call that her son had allegedly committed suicide. The news spread fast, and claims began to circulate that Reed’s body was found with broken limbs. Per Carter, the Bolivar County Coroner’s Office has denied these claims.
In a recent statement, the office asserted that Reed “did not suffer any lacerations, contusions, compound fractures, broken bones, or injuries consistent with assault.” Additionally, the office shared that “at this time,” evidence does not suggest that Reed was attacked before his death.
What Happens Next?
Authorities have announced that the investigation into Trey Reed’s death remains ongoing. During a recent press conference, Dr. Daniel Ellis, the President at Delta State University, shared that “there is no evidence” of a threat to the campus. However, students and the public alike are not buying it.
