Looks like there’s more controversy brewing in the ‘Love Island USA’ universe. Huda & Louis Speak Out After Viewer Uses Racial Slur Toward Olandria During Stream
On Wednesday, Oct. 29, a clip of Huda and Louis began making waves across the internet. During their livestream, the two were taking calls when one caller decided to mention Huda’s fellow Love Island castmate, Olandria Carthen. The caller said, “Olandria is a n***er.” The couple burst out laughing and quickly hung up, with Huda asking if the caller had said a “bad word.”
Huda and Louis later took to their socials to address the incident. They each issued statements making it clear they do not condone racism and claimed they did not hear Olandria’s name at the time.
Huda said the laughter was out of awkwardness, writing that the situation was “insane” and that she only reacted to hearing “a bad word,” emphasizing, “I don’t condone anything of the sort.”
She added that the caller had repeatedly tried to join their livestream and that she hung up immediately after realizing what was said. Louis echoed her statement, saying he also did not hear Olandria’s name during the prank call. He added that as a Black man who has “experienced enough racism all [his] life,” he didn’t want to give the caller any satisfaction from the attention but wanted to make clear that neither of them supports racism in any form.
Olandria Responds After Being Called A Racial Slur During Huda And Louis’ Stream
Olandria Carthen addressed the recent livestream involving Huda and Louis. In her statement, she made it clear that she “does not condone racism of any kind” and emphasized that such language is “never acceptable. not in anger, not as a joke, not ever.”
Carthen spoke passionately about the deeper harm of racial slurs, saying, “Words like that carry generations of pain, and pretending otherwise only keeps the cycle going.” She also called for accountability, adding that “defending it, laughing about it, or making excuses is even worse.”
Despite the incident, Olandria said she won’t let it distract her from uplifting her community. She encouraged those involved and their supporters to take real action by donating to groups such as the UNCF, NAACP, and Thurgood Marshall College Fund. She added that she’ll make a personal donation and share links to support HBCUs and educational programs for the Black community.
