Roommates, have you ever blocked someone on social media and hoped that’s the end of it? Well, one University of Missouri student apparently didn’t take that kind of digital rejection well. Eighteen-year-old Maxwell Warren is making headlines after police say he allegedly got his revenge over a Snapchat block. And, it’s an encounter that landed him behind bars and banned from campus.

Blocked On Snap? He Allegedly Lost It
According to police reports obtained by Law & Crime, Maxwell Warren allegedly barged into another student’s dorm room on September 26 after realizing he’d been blocked on Snapchat. The student told officers that when they cracked the door open, Warren forced his way in. Additionally, he reportedly grabbed them by the neck, and shouted, “You need to add me back right now!” The alleged attack left visible red marks on the victim’s neck, which were later documented in photos.
From “Sorry” To Allegedly Snapping Again
Just days later, Warren allegedly messaged the student on Instagram, apologizing and saying, “I feel awful, you deserve so much better.” But the peace didn’t last long — police say he continued to contact the student through Snapchat and even responded to a confrontation with, “I would do it again, I f—ing hate you, I would gladly beat your a—.” By late October, Warren allegedly returned to the student’s room again, this time while possibly under the influence. When the student rejected his advances, Warren allegedly became enraged and strangled them a second time. Furthermore, this second attempt was so violent that the victim said they briefly lost consciousness.
Warren’s Altercation Caught On Video
The chaos didn’t stop there. That same day, police say Warren was caught on surveillance video in a campus parking structure allegedly pushing a woman to the ground — a claim he tried to justify by saying she’d hit him first, though footage reportedly proved otherwise. Warren has since been charged with three counts of domestic assault and one count of burglary. And, one of those assault charges involve serious physical injury. He’s currently being held without bond at Boone County Jail, and his next court date is set for November 10.
School Says “Nope”—Bans Warren From Campus
The University of Missouri has officially banned Warren from campus while the investigation continues. University spokesperson Christopher Ave told KMIZ that Warren is barred from all classes and campus activities and warned that he’ll face arrest if he tries to return. “The university does not tolerate acts of violence,” the statement read — a sentiment echoed by many students who say this case serves as a chilling reminder of how social media conflicts can escalate in the real world.
