Woman Found Dead Inside Miami Dollar Tree Freezer

According to CBS News, authorities responded around 8 a.m. to the Dollar Tree on SW 8th St. in Little Havana after an employee discovered the body of Helen Massiell Garay Sanchez. Police confirmed that Sanchez, 32, had entered the store the night before but did not make any purchases. Reportedly, she later entered a restricted employee-only area and remained inside the walk-in freezer overnight. “Complainant found a naked female in the cooler of the store,” dispatchers were heard sharing over the police scanners. Officials continue investigating while awaiting the medical examiner’s report, with no foul play suspected at this time.

A mother of two and accomplished anesthesiologist, Helen Massiell Garay Sanchez, was originally from Nicaragua. Dollar Tree Team And Community Speak Out

Residents who learned of the tragic discovery expressed disbelief and devastation, describing the scene as unimaginable and worrying about when her family would be notified. A Dollar Tree spokesperson expressed condolences to Sanchez’s family and confirmed the company is fully cooperating with authorities.

“We are aware of this tragic incident, and our thoughts are with the individual’s family and loved ones,” a Dollar Tree spokesperson revealed in a statement obtained by PEOPLE. “We are cooperating fully with the authorities at this time.”
