Sometimes, a long-simmering grudge turns deadly in ways no one could imagine. Noah Corbitt, 24, is now facing life behind bars after a shocking act of violence that left a young mother dead in front of her 4-year-old daughter — all stemming from an argument that began years ago over money and a failed gun deal.

Road Rage Turns Deadly During Overnight Amazon Shift
The horrific events unfolded on September 21, 2024, when Noah Corbitt allegedly followed his co-worker and a woman driving him in her car after an overnight shift at Amazon. What started as an unresolved dispute over a gun and cash quickly escalated. A shot rang out while the mother, Jermea Lyle, 26, was asleep in the backseat with her daughter, ultimately striking and killing her. Prosecutors say the bullet passed through her body and narrowly missed the child, leaving her an unimaginable trauma to carry forward.
Money, Guns, And A Fatal Reunion
According to court documents, the dispute that triggered this tragedy began years earlier when Noah Corbitt allegedly paid $200 for a firearm that he never received. The co-worker kept the money but never delivered the gun. Fatefully, the two ended up working at the same Amazon facility years later, setting the stage for the fatal encounter on the highway. Corbitt’s anger, prosecutors say, boiled over after their paths crossed following an overnight shift.
“The two individuals had not seen each other since the failed gun sale,” the memo reveals. “The Defendant confronted [the other man who] indicated that he did not wish to fight because he did not want them to lose their jobs.”
Corbitt’s Sentencing Looms After Mother Killed In Attack
Authorities traced the fatal bullet back to Corbitt’s 9 mm Taurus pistol, recovered from his home, and tied the trajectory to his blue Chevrolet Impala. In interviews, Corbitt reportedly described firing the gun out of his driver-side window, calling it a “warning shot” — though it tragically struck an innocent mother. He has pleaded guilty to multiple counts, and under a plea deal, prosecutors outlined a combined sentence of 50 years to life. His sentencing hearing is set for November 14.
