Brian McKnight Jr. Reacts To His Dad Celebrating Allegedly Winning $8M Judge Against His Mom On Late Brother Niko’s Birthday
During the early hours of Friday, October 17, Brian McKnight Jr. took to his Instagram Story to share footage in reaction to his dad.
“I’ve tried, man. I’ve tried really, really hard. To not touch on s**t. To let it go. To be the bigger person. To be mature… But the s**t goin’ on with my dad right now… if y’all aren’t seeing what’s happening. If y’all aren’t seeing the fact that this is a very hurt, and a very emotionally unavailable and not-intelligent person that has still not being able to handle the death of his own mother… to decide to make certain posts on my late brother’s birthday?”
From there, Brian Jr. stated, “Say what you want, dog. But the gloves are off for me.” Furthermore, he explained that he knows “parents are human” who “have gone through things too.”
“My issue is, though… man, you don’t want me to start talking about the things I had to deal with in my childhood. The things that I will take to my grave. The things that my brother took to his grave! That we could put out there. The things that we could say… because our dad wasn’t emotionally intelligent enough nor mature enough to actually be a father,” Brian Jr. said. “You don’t want that!”
Ultimately, Brian Jr. explained that the post his father shared on his late brother’s heavenly birthday was “petty” and “ridiculous.”
“Who are you trying to hurt if it’s not me, and my mother, and my family?” Brian Jr. stated.

More On The Singer Allegedly Winning $8M Judgment Against Julie McKnight
As The Shade Room previously reported, Niko McKnight would have turned 32 on Thursday, October 16. However, he passed away from cancer in May 2025. While Brian Jr. and Niko’s mom, Julie, took to Instagram on Thursday to pay tribute to her late son, Brian McKnight took to his Instagram on Thursday for another reason.
In footage shared, he alleged that he won an $8.8 million judgment against Julie. This, due to what he said, was her actions of “trying to ruin [his] name and trying to bring harm to [his] family with a book filled with lies.” Furthermore, he included audio of Julie telling him not to contact their son Niko. This played over footage of the singer skipping and jumping around.
At this time, the judgment and book Brian McKnight is speaking of remains unconfirmed to TSR. However, it must be noted that in February, Julie McKnight did release a novel titled ‘Mama Bear: Beautifully Blended.’ Per Amazon, the book provides “guidance to those who are navigating the twists and turns within a blended family.”
Julie McKnight Penned A Letter To Brian McKnight Jr. Following Niko’s Passing
As of the afternoon of Friday, October 17, Julie McKnight has remained mum on her ex-husband’s recent statements as well as her son’s stance. However, in July, Julie did not hold her silence back when it came to consoling Brian McKnight Jr. through their grief.
