What Did Charlamagne Say About GloRilla Going Up Against Nicki Minaj?
Chile, Charlamagne didn’t hold back when he and his co-hosts started debating the “Big Three” in female rap. While discussing a series of names mentioned in a recent Billboard interview, Charlamagne threw a curveball, saying GloRilla is “certified big three of this generation.” He went IN, declaring, “I could put GloRilla’s catalog up against Nicki’s. I think that’s a good one. Yes, absolutely. GloRilla got joints.” He doubled down, noting her debut album dropped in 2024, but her mixtapes are “like albums” with songs that have made more noise than some other female rappers as of late.
DJ Envy wasn’t feeling Charlamagne’s take, though, pointing out Nicki’s 15-year head start compared to Glo. But Charlamagne insisted, “I can still get 20 records for 20 records. And I bet you’ll be like, ‘Damn, Glo.’” Trust and believe that the comments quickly sparked online chatter, with Hip-Hop heads weighing in on whether a valid point was made.

Now, while Charlamagne was hyping GloRilla up, a leaked jail call from Young Thug’s conversation with Mariah The Scientist had social media shook. In the audio, released on Thursday, August 4, Thug was heard shading Glo’s appearance, allegedly calling her “ugly” and questioning her appeal. The clip spread like wildfire online, and fans were NOT here for it. GloRilla wasted no time seemingly issuing her response on social media. “Mind you dis da same n*a blowing my phone up to ask what color my eyes is lmaooo,” she wrote. Glo wasn’t playing, and her fans rallied, flooding the TSR comments with support, while others criticized Thug for coming for another woman’s looks. The shade was real, y’all.
Young Thug Issues Apology for What He Said About GloRilla
After the backlash, Thug tried to clean things up. In a message shared on his official X account, he apologized, saying:
“first of all I’m sorry to u for my words and I honestly don’t think ur ugly at all, I was speaking from jail just having a hard time with life.. I don’t like bashing girls and hardly ever did.. I’m sorry to u twin.”
GloRilla hasn’t directly responded to the apology as of yet.
