Resource Officer Is Reportedly Removed From Active Duty As Student, Lanier Johnson-Hunt, Speaks Out
In an interview with Atlanta News First, Johnson-Hunt says he was expelled from school. Additionally, the outlet reports that the resource officer was “removed from active duty.” Nonetheless, the footage of the incident has gone viral online, with Fulton County Schools reportedly releasing a statement:
“The incident is being taken seriously and is currently under review.”
Meanwhile, Johnson-Hunt told the press:
“At the moment, nothing was going through my mind. I’ve never been tased before. But now I think that’s crazy. You’re a school resource officer. You’re supposed to be helping us, and you’re tasing random kids. There’s no point in you tasing me at all.”
Per WSB-TV, the 18-year-old has now retained civil rights attorney Harry Daniels.
“It’s obvious in the video that this young man wasn’t a threat to anyone. He was simply trying to get home and take care of his autistic brother, and they tased him for it,” Daniels explained, adding more context to the apparent circumstances.
