Late neo-soul singer D’Angelo has been laid to rest as Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill, and more vocal greats attended his recent memorial service.

According to TMZ, D’Angelo was laid to rest at Saint Paul’s Baptist Church in Henrico, Virginia, on Saturday, November 1. Per PEOPLE, the Soultronics and The Vanguard, two of the singer’s former bands, performed musical tributes during the service. In addition, Stevie Wonder took the stage to sing a few songs, including ‘If It’s Magic’ and ‘The Lord’s Prayer.’ Notably, TMZ reports that former President Barack Obama even sent a letter for the singer’s family to read during the event.

Subsequently, on November 1, photos and videos from the memorial service surfaced. HuffPost Deputy Editor Phil Lewis took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a look at the service’s program booklet.

Additionally, photos showed Lauryn Hill and Dr Premier at the service.

Furthermore, photos also showed H.E.R. in attendance.

More On The Recent Passing Of D’Angelo

As The Shade Room previously reported, D’Angelo passed away in October at the age of 51. He was reportedly battling pancreatic cancer. Furthermore, his death occurred months after that of fellow singer Angie Stone, who was also the mother of his eldest son.

Later that month, D’Angelo and Stone’s son, Michael Archer II, publicly mourned his father’s passing alongside his sister, Imani, per The Shade Room. Furthermore, Lauryn Hill, alongside a plethora of celebrities, also shared her own tribute.

At this time, OkayPlayer reports that a public ceremony to honor D’Angelo’s legacy is scheduled to take place in 2026.
