Susan Avalon Arrested In Ex-Husbands’ Fatal Shootings

Susan Avalon, 51, was arrested after investigators say she went to the homes of both of her ex-husbands and fatally shot them. According to the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office, Avalon was tracked down at her Citrus County home, where deputies observed her walking outside with bleach and cleaning rags before getting into a silver Honda Odyssey and wiping it down. When detectives approached her and said they wanted to speak about her ex-husband, Avalon allegedly responded, “Which one?”

Investigators Uncover Chilling Timeline Of First Shooting

Authorities say the investigation began Wednesday afternoon when deputies responded to a Bradenton home and found one of Avalon’s ex-husbands suffering from gunshot wounds. Before later dying at the hospital, the man reportedly told deputies his ex-wife may have been responsible. Additionally, his 15-year-old daughter was home at the time. According to investigators, she heard gunshots and saw a silver Honda Odyssey drive away. Surveillance footage later showed a woman matching Avalon’s description taking a bag of food from a Panera Bread pickup shelf and using it to gain access to the home before opening fire.

Second Ex-Husband Found Dead As Case Expands

As detectives pieced the case together, they learned Avalon had another ex-husband living in Tampa. Officers were sent to his home, where they discovered forced entry and found him dead from gunshot wounds. Investigators also revealed that Avalon allegedly owed one ex-husband thousands in child support and had ongoing issues with both men. Her live-in boyfriend told police she made an unusual statement the day before the shootings. Avalon reportedly said she loved him “in case something happens to her,” which he described as out of character.

Avalon has been charged with second-degree homicide. However, authorities say they are seeking to upgrade the charges to first-degree murder and pursue the death penalty, stating the acts appeared planned. She remains in custody as investigators continue working across multiple counties, and additional charges may still be filed.
