According to 11Alive, on Sunday, October 26, Motes’ father saw her drive into the parking lot of a shopping center in Oakland. Additionally, she reportedly told him that she “hurt” an individual, and she believed the person was dead.

Subsequently, Motes’ father drove her away from the parking lot, and they ultimately “encountered” police. During that encounter, authorities reportedly discovered the remains of a 4-year-old girl in Motes’ car trunk.

According to WSB-TV, the car was registered in Motes’ name. Since then, she has been charged with “concealing the death of another.” At this time, the outlet reports that Jessica Maria Motes remains in Hall County Jail “with no bond.” Furthermore, 11Alive adds that it remains unclear what connection Motes may have had with the 4-year-old.

PEOPLE reports that at this time, the discovery of the 4-year-old’s body appears to be related to a death investigation. Furthermore, the investigation was also reportedly initiated on October 26. Per the outlet, on that date, “a mother contacted family members about some type of injury involving her child.”

A year before the arrest of Jessica Maria Motes, two women were arrested for their alleged actions with a man’s remains. As The Shade Room previously reported, in March 2024, Karen Casbohm and Loreen Bea Feralo arrived at their home to find their roommate, Douglas Layman, deceased.

Ultimately, the women were accused of cruising through a bank’s drive-thru. And propping up the man’s body so that they could withdraw money from his bank account.
